Tara Whitney {Photographer Spotlight}

'Photography is not like painting, there is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative,'
- Cartier-Bresson to the Washington Post in 1957.

Something about this quote grabbed me. As photographers we are trying to capture more than a face, we are also trying to capture a feeling. Love, joy, purity, sadness, thoughtfulness, awe. Sometimes it's just necessary to snap as fast
as you can and hope one of them is going to be the image you in vision. But in most situations we will find better results if we slow down. Confirm the settings, the surrounding and the target and don't let the shutter drop until you have it all in position. Often times less can be more, and when it comes to post editing... Hundreds and hundreds of images to sort thru for the 30 we may use is just to time consuming.
